Report Theft of Energy to APD

Meter tampering and electricity theft are felonies that can lead to arrest, fines and/or imprisonment. While the numbers are few, some of the consumers tamper with their meters as a means of not paying for electricity. Although theft of electricity is a criminal offence throughout the world, power utilities are losing billions of rupees in this account. Electricity tampering is also a safety issue that can cause fire, personal injury and possible electrocution. Electricity theft costs our consumers money! Although Power utilities works to minimize cost, this loss is shared by their consumers. That is why utilities are asking public assistance to curb theft attempts.
